What to wear for your New Hampshire Engagement Session!

Echo lake engagement session, with a zoomed in ring shot located in Franconia Notch, New Hampshire.

“ Okay I’ve picked my location, now what should I wear?!”

My clients are consistently asking this question!! Which is why I always include a style guide as a part of the welcome pack upon booking a session with me.

However, I thought giving some tips and tricks on here would also better serve anyone who is looking to have their photos appear timeless and genuine.

Chose 2 outfits that are different vibes!

This is important for two reasons! The first is because it will give the illusion that you have two sets of photos from two different sessions (more use of your photos for gifts, decorations, memories and more OPTIONS!!)

The second reason for this is because you take on different pieces of your personality depending on what you wear. For example, this light flowy white dress gives the photos a more relaxed and calm session vibe, vs. the jeans and cute top idea.

Now on to the color coordinating portion!

Matching is honestly the worst in my opinion haha we’re not in 1992 anymore (although the box stores recently have me thinking otherwise…). Matching identically with your partner for a session is a no go. So instead of wearing jeans and a matching red plaid flannel for your photos, think about coordinating instead!

Textures, color families, patterns, and layering are all things to consider when pulling outfits together for your session.

Additionally, when booking a session in the White Mountains, the weather is unpredictable which really means that you need to be prepared for anything that could be thrown our way, and always have back ups in the trunk.

Notice the difference an outfit can make for your session!

This is the same couple, on the same day but are in a different location ( 3 minutes from original) and in different outfits.

What you wear for your session is super important for enhancing the warmth and lush tones of the New Hampshire White Mountains.

They also incorporated their son in a few of these photos at the end of their session, so cute!

A final note to remember, your photos will only look as beautiful as you feel in them, if you don’t like your outfit odds are you won’t like the photos either. So, always make sure to pick something you feel confident in and that you want to look at for years to come.

Styling and coordinating outfits can feel incredibly overwhelming and stressful, but with this little cheat sheet your next session should be a breeze! I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

With Love,

Nicole
